New legislation for car drivers wishing to tow trailers/caravans was introduced in 1997, for those who passed after 1997 may need to take a separate test to tow trailers.
 
At Carlton, we recommend you have a 2 hour assessment lesson to see how many hours you will need. Once assessed, we can then advise you on your training needs.
 
We find that most people need between 10-15 hours training prior to test depending on experience.

ADI and LGV registered instructors

Our instructors are ADI and LGV registered with many years of driver training experience.

We are here to provide you with the necessary skills to keep your vehicle safe and provide you with useful advice, tips and confidence for life.

Option 1

– 1 day Training Course
This is a one day, fully intensive course available for those who are natural and comfortable at the wheel and already have a good level of towing experience. This course has been designed to prepare you for the test.

Option 2

– 2 day Training Course
If you have towed before, but not frequently, then this is the course for you. The 2 day intensive course includes training for manoeuvres, learning how to uncouple and recouple correctly, and includes the test. Over the 2 days you will cover more mileage giving you more confidence leading up to your test.

Option 3

– 3 day Training Course
Our 3 day intensive course allows us to train and prepare you for the test, even if you have had very little, or no experience, then this course is suited to you. The course will be broken down into stages covering manoeuvres, uncouple, recouple and safety checks, this will allow us to achieve all the necessary skills required to prepare you for the practical test.
